30K Saturday: End of Week 1

Last week, I began my quest to save $30,000 as quickly as possible.  I have not put a specific time frame on it because costs fluctuates 30K Saturday.

The best way for me to reach my goal is to simply minimize or stop spending money on things that I don’t need.

Let’s just say that to minimize spending is harder than one thinks, especially in a culture that markets everything to us some way or another.

Having stated this, I think that I performed relatively well this past week, considered it was my wife’s birthday — **sigh**.  We celebrated her birthday at Mystic Pizza, a pizzeria made famous by the movie that bears the same name.  To celebrate with us, we were accompanied by family who were also in town for the week. Fortunately for me, although I was absolutely prepared to pay for the meal, a family member picked up the tab — I didn’t complain at all. After dinner we all went to a local ice-cream shop and had cake, ice-cream, and coffee, for which I did pick up the tab.

Other than that, here are the statistics for the week:

Temptations that did not materialize and their associated potential costs:

  1. Dining-out at the local Chinese Restaurant with family : $30.00
