30K Saturday: End of week 6 (Red all around!)

This week I saved nothing. In fact, I may be putting a halt on savings for a while due to a recent unfortunate event in my life. I will not be too blatant about the event, but I have added a new reason to the Ways We Prevent Wealth list to the right.  And boy is it a “kick in the junk.”

Just think, some of us work so hard to get where we are or where we want to go, but right as progress is being made, something always seems to happen.  Hence, we always have to prepare for the unexpected. As things progress, I’m sure that I will write more details about it in the future. But for now, I’ll keep them to myself and compile them for a very good series later.

In other disappointing news, here are the stats for the week:

Temptations that did not materialize and their associated potential costs:

  1. None that I can think of. Although this week included Black Friday, I stayed away from fliers.  I mainly stayed away from them because I knew that I didn’t want anything, but I were to have looked, I’m sure that I would have found something.

Total spending on temptations if I would have gave in to them: $00.00
——————————————————————————————–

Actual spending on needs:

  1. My graduate tuition now that my scholarship has run dry: $141.60
  2. Several Household products: $75.11
  3. An ATM Cash Withdrawal: $20.00

Total spending on needs: ($231.71)

————————————————————————–

Actual spending on things NOT needed:

  1. Dining out with the family: $45.00
  2. Kindle giveaway: $100.00 ( I really enjoyed the contest 🙂 )
  3. Taking my son out for breakfast: $13.21
  4. Thanksgiving Day groceries: $45.22
  5. A few movies from Redbox: $3.18 (BTW, Grown-ups wasn’t that funny to me)

Total spending on things NOT needed: ($206.61)

——————————————————————————
Total deposited towards $30K Saturday: $00.00  –  $265.00 (Withdrawan from saving to renew one of my term life insurance policies)  =  $265.00!
Total spent during the week: $703.32!

Disappointing and discouraging, to say the least.
